It's crazy that we've been living here for 3 weeks and haven't made it to Seattle until now. Even though it was a holiday weekend and insanely busy, we had a blast exploring our new city.
We took the Bainbridge Island Ferry, which only takes about 30 minutes to get into downtown. The ride is smooth and easy. Plus, you just walk on....there's no fee to go to Seattle this way (you do pay a fee heading back).
The skyline view from the ferry was awesome!
Getting closer...
We walked straight to the stadiums to see how close (or far) they were from the ferries, since we plan on attending some games in the near future. Thankfully, it's an easy walk from the ferry terminal.
Now we just need to get some Seahawks, Mariners, and Sounders gear (don't worry, we're still Boston fans all the way....Seattle teams come in second place).
Next, Pike Place Market, of course!
My favorite part of PPM can be summed up in one word: FLOWERS!! So many and so affordable! I would have bought some except we were walking all over the city and I didn't want to carry a massive bouquet everywhere. Next time, for sure!
But, the flying fish are really fun too. Noa was able to capture it on video, despite the massive crowds (don't adjust your volume, there's no sound)
And you can't visit Seattle without seeing the ORIGINAL Starbucks. We didn't stop in to get a drink this time because the line was ridiculously long and we figured there will be many more opportunities to go.
There were street performers everywhere.
...and the Seattle Public Library.
Exciting find of the day: a REAL 100 YEN store! It was like a piece of Okinawa was smack dab in the middle of the city. Yes!
A perfect end to our adventure in the city: a scenic ride back to Bainbridge Island.
You can bet we'll be traveling to Seattle as much as we can. I can't wait to go back.
wow, looks like so much fun! Praying for you as you continue to explore, transition, and get settled... and as always, keep the great blogs coming! We love and miss you! :)
ReplyDeleteNice shots. Can I tell you how weird it is to be getting updates from the area instead of Okinawa? :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, cheap tickets go on sale Tuesday morning for the US Open Cup (soccer)--Sounders take on Columbus Oct. 5 at 8:00. Just a suggestion. Totally jealous you can just hop on the ferry and be in downtown!
I love that you can take a 30 minute ferry ride into Seattle! Fun!
ReplyDeleteAlso...do you know there's a Daiso right by our gym. I didn't know that that was the 100 yen store you were talking about. ha ha! I love that place!!!
Don't worry about having to buy Seattle sports gear. 90% of people here are transplants who are cheering for the "opposing" team anyway! You should see it when the Red Sox and Yankees come to town!
